The place
At the northern tip of Tainan County 20 km from the tropic of cancer, Sinying City is the center of Jianan Plain at the north shore of Jishuei Creek. Bordering Dongshan Township at east, Liouying Township at south, Yanshuei at west, and Houbi at north, Sinying is a simple plain without any protected forest areas or protection forests, only a protected area of water sources north of Sinying Water Treatment Plant near Jishuei Creek. Sinying is the capital of Tainan County; therefore, a business/administration center is developed to serve the county’s northern townships. Overall, Sinying is now an administration center, satellite city, medical center, and financial center of the neighboring areas.
The History
Sinying was a military camp of Zheng Cheng-Gong. If there is a Sinying (new camp), there must be a Jiouying (old camp). Yes, the old camp is approximately 2km south of Yanshuei Township. In Kangxi Period Qing Dynasty, this place was the Daguibi Village of Jhuluo County and after Qianlong, this place became part of the Taizi Fortress and Tiesianciao Fortress of Chia-I County (the original Jhuluo County).
Taisho 9th, a full-scale rezoning was implemented in October; Sinying was rezoned into the municipality of Taizi Palace and was named as the Sinying Village of Taizi Palace. Another rezoning in the Japanese era reorganized the municipalities and Sinying became the Sinying Village of Sinying Township Tainan State but was later changed to Sinying Street. It has been an administration center of the Prefecture since the Japanese era. In Republic 34th (1945), the new administration changed all streets to townships and allocated Tainan County’s administration in this town. Sinying gradually replaced the functions of Yanshuei. In 1981, Sinying Township was upgraded to the city status and became a major logistic and administration center in the area.
