Current Development of Industries in Tainan County
Foreword
Tainan County, located at the center of Chianan Plain, controls Taiwan Strait westward and connects mountains eastward with very convenient transportation from north to south of Taiwan; with fertile lands and warm climate, Tainan County, booming in agriculture and fishery, is the first area which contacted modern civilization for reclamation making this county cultural and industrial.
Though founded on agriculture, Tainan County’s industries, under the leading of government and efforts of county people, have been booming gradually with progressed industrial structure. By 1996 when STSP emerged in this county, Tainan County has mounted into the field of high technologies. Under the magnetic effect of “South core, new silicon valley”, so many high-tech firms gather in STSP that this county becomes the locomotive to lead the economic development of southern Taiwan.
As follows, we introduce Tainan County’s industries which are divided into 2 categories as STSP industries and industries in areas other than STSP.
